Alakesh Das
Bamboo & Cane Artisan
Alakesh Das lives in Patbaushi, Barpeta, Assam, with his family of five — his mother, father, younger brother, younger sister, and himself.
His journey with bamboo craftsmanship began through online workshops, where he first learned the basics. Later, he gained practical experience by working alongside skilled artisans in different places, watching and learning directly from their craft. Attending exhibitions further enriched his knowledge, fueling his passion for handicrafts. Wherever he found an opportunity to learn, he eagerly embraced it.
For Alakesh, handmade products hold a special meaning — he feels a soul-like connection to them. Every piece reflects the hard work and spirit of local people, making it more than just an object but a story of culture and tradition. Being part of a generation that values eco-friendliness, he is deeply committed to creating products that are sustainable, authentic, and carry a royal elegance. His main focus is on bamboo and cane, which he sees as tools to build a pollution-free and environmentally conscious society.
Alakesh believes people should know not only about him but about the larger community of artisans working for the betterment of the environment. Through bamboo and cane handicrafts, they are creating products that are eco-friendly, affordable, durable, and stylish — all while preserving the essence of tradition and culture.
